Summer Camp 2019 – Haarlem Jamborette

15 October 2018

What is it?

The Haarlem Jamborette is an international camp for 4,000 scouts aged 10 to 17 from around the world, which is held every four years, so each Scout has one opportunity to attend during their time in the Troop. 6FB went to the Jamborette as our Summer Camp in 2011 and 2015 and it is an amazing experience, with different activities laid on every day. It is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the worldwide family of Scouts in an adventure overseas.

Who can go?

All current Scouts, Cubs who will be 10 by 31/12/18, those of Explorer age who have been Young Leaders at 6FB and leaders who have supported previous 6FB summer camps. All Young People will need to be in uniform and registered members at the time of the Jamborette.

How much will it cost?

The cost of the camp will be £500 but those who are going will be able to offset some of this by taking an active part in fund-raising activities during the year. Kirsty is our Fund-Raising Coordinator and we have set ourselves a target of raising at least £5,000, which would reduce the cost by £100 per head. There will be plenty of fun activities and events between now and the Jamborette for everyone to get involved in!

We understand the financial pressures that parents face and do not want any of our members to feel excluded.  Please speak to one of the leaders in confidence if you need assistance from our Helping Hand fund. We don’t want anyone to miss out on this opportunity.

Payment instalments for the camp are scheduled as follows:

2/11/18:                £50

7/12/18:                £100

1/2/19:                  £100

5/4/19:                  £100

31/5/19:                £100

28/6/19:                £50

What about spending money?

Scouts will be able to take a maximum of £50 spending money, which should be paid in to Camp Bank in advance and can be withdrawn during the camp. (Spending money will be collected separately and not using My.Scout.) The Jamborette uses a cashless system on site and purchases are made with Jambo tokens. For off-site visits we will issue money from Camp Bank in Euros.

When do I need to decide?

Please sign up on My.Scout by Friday 2 November 2018.

How do I find out more?
