SUMMARY:Scout Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:Where is the camp? \nWe’re going to Wymondley Wood Scout and Guide centre\, a residential and camping centre for organised youth groups. \nLocated between the picturesque villages of Willian and Great Wymondley in North Hertfordshire\, the 4-acre site is situated in a 20-acre conservation area consisting of mature woodland\, streams\, ponds and open grassland. \nHow will we get there? \nWe are going to travel by minibus\, from Manor Drive with equipment and personal kit going in a lorry. The Journey is very straight forward and will take no longer than 1 hour and will return to Manor Drive at 17:00 on the 2nd August. \nWhat happens at camp? \nScouts will sleep in tents and camp in Patrols\, cooking on wood fires. As usual there will be a Patrol points competition\, a cooking contest\, games and evening entertainment when we all get together at Cake O’clock in The Palace! Offsite activities will include hiking and visits and we are planning to go to an Aquapark and a High Ropes facility. The programme will also include wide games\, pioneering and a day out. \nHow much will it cost? \n£275 plus spending money (£35 maximum). Please confirm attendance by Sunday 22 June with a non-refundable deposit of £75. Further payments will be requested in accordance with the payment schedule on OSM/My Scout (£100 by 6 July and £100 by 20 July). Spending money is to be paid to a leader by Friday 18 July (by cash\, in an envelope marked with the Scout’s name\, please); Scouts can then withdraw their spending money from Camp Bank during the camp itself. \nWe understand the financial pressures that parents face and do not want any of our members to feel excluded. Please speak to one of the leaders in confidence if you need assistance from our Helping Hand fund. Summer Camp is the highlight of the Scouting year and allows us to put into practice many of the skills we learn in our weekly programme. We don’t want anyone to miss out on this opportunity. \nHow do I find out more? \nIf you would like find out more about camp please come to a short presentation at Frith Grange on Thursday26th June at 8:30pm where we will be available to answer any of your questions. \nKit lists\, parental consent forms and further information will be issued nearer the time. \nMeanwhile\, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

SUMMARY:Hike for Haarlem
DESCRIPTION:Our leaders are taking on the Southern 50 Challenge to raise funds to help our Scouts to go to the Haarlem Jamborette in August. \nThe Southern 50 is a tough 50k walk in the Chiltern Hills through Buckinghamshire and surrounding counties\, organised by Greater London North Scouts. We want to fund at least £10\,000 of the total cost. \nThe more that we raise\, the less that they have to pay. Your contribution will make an impact\, whether you donate a little or a lot. Anything helps. \nPlease help us to get to Haarlem! \nThank you for your support. \nDonate

All water activity staff/instructors are fully qualified by the Docklands Scout Project and they have a range of safety boats patrolling constantly. \nScouts attending must be able to swim 50 metres\, wearing the clothing they will be wearing in water. \nThe Scouts will meet at 15th Finchley HQ\, 104 Grove Road\, North Finchley N12 9EA at 5.30pm prompt on Friday 24th June wearing full uniform with their personal kit after having had a meal (later that evening they will only get a snack). \nThey will then be travelling to the Docklands Scout Project (DSP)\, HQTS Lord Amory\, 631 Manchester Road\, Dollar Bay\, London\, E14 3NU by coach. \nThe Scouts will return to 15th Finchley HQ on Sunday 26th June at approx. 5pm. \nThe cost for this camp will be £100\, payable in two instalments of £50 on 30th April and 30th May\, or if you wish one payment by 30th April.  £60 of this will be a non-refundable deposit in the event that the Scout does not attend the weekend. \nThe large number of changes of clothing required is because they will obviously get wet several times and will need dry clothing to start the next session.  Dustbin liners are required for bringing the wet clothing home.
