DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT NOTE TO PARENTS: Accepting this invitation means that you give consent for your Scout to take part AND that you have checked and confirmed the contact\, medical and diet details included in the Personal Information on My.Scout.   \nFancy a bit of adventure? How about a weekend in the Peak District with some hillwalking! \nThis is a “PLs PLUS” activity\, for Pls\, APLs and older scouts only. We will meet at Manor Drive at 5pm on Friday 17 June and travel by minibus to Barnswood Scout camp in Staffordshire\, where we will have indoor accommodation. \nReturn will be 6pm approx. on Sunday 19th June. \nThe cost will be £50. (We will be subsidising the event with a Jack Petchey Award) \nYou should be able to work out what kit you will need for yourselves. My list would include: \n\nTravel there and back in Scout uniform\nSleeping bag\nPillow\nSleep wear\nTorch\nWash kit\nTowel\nClothes/footwear for indoors\nSpare underwear / socks\nClothes for hiking\nWalking boots and 2 pairs of socks\nDay sack\nDrink bottle (metal or rigid plastic) or water bladder\nWaterproof top and trousers\nSun hat\nWarm hat / gloves (just in case)\nClothes hanger\n\nIf you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

SUMMARY:Group Camp
DESCRIPTION:For our Group Camp this May we will be joining other Scout Groups from Barnet at our District ‘Through the Decades‘ camp at Gilwell Park\, Chingford – the HQ of Scouts in the UK. \nOver the weekend you’ll have the chance to try out lots of activities including Climbing\, Crate Stacking\, Fencing\, Low Ropes and High Ropes\, Raft Building\, Aeroball\, Pedal Go Carts\, Crafts and Archery to name a few!! There will be separate Silent Discos for Cubs and Scouts\, a Camp Fire and a Parade of the Decades – with each Scout Group representing a decade from HM The Queen’s reign. \nAll meals will be provided for the Scouts on this occasion – no Patrol cooking but you will be helping our central Cook Team to prep meals\, serve and wash-up after! You will be sleeping in tents – which you’ll need to pitch when you arrive on Friday. \nThe cost for this camp\, which is subsidised by our group\, is £40. A £10 deposit is requested by 30th March and the balance of £30 by 6th May. \nGilwell Park is approximately a 30 minute drive from Whetstone\, with the closest train station being Chingford on the Overground. When you sign up to camp you’ll be asked a few questions re transport to help us work out if we need to arrange some group transport. If you are able to get there and back yourself\, and possibly offer a friend a lift\, that would really help. \nPlease remember that as a group we have money set aside to ensure that no young person misses out on any of the opportunities that Scouting has to offer. If you want to attend camp but the cost is a barrier\, you can speak to any Leader or email our Chairman Richard Charles\, Chair@thescouthut.org.uk. We know asking for help isn’t easy so we’re trying to make it as simple as we can\, there are no forms to fill in and you won’t be asked to make any repayments.

SUMMARY:Cubs’ Rafting Day
DESCRIPTION:The Barnet Borough Cubs Rafting Day will be on Sunday 15th May 2022 at ESSA Water Activity Centre (www.essa.org.uk) and will follow the same format as previous years i.e. build rafts in the morning then race them after lunch. \nArrive at ESSA for 09.45 for a 10.00 start and we should be finished by 16.30. \nTeams made up of 4 – 8 Cubs at a cost of £15 per Cub. \nCubs should bring a packed lunch & drink(s). They will also need 2 changes of clothes. All safety equipment will be provided by ESSA and 4EB. \nEach team will build their raft in the morning then races will begin after lunch. \nRafts will be inspected for safety during lunch. \nIt will be down to individual Packs to ensure you have consent forms for all your participants. \nPacks will need to complete a BBSD Cubs Rafting ESSA Form May 2022 and a Barnet Borough District Rafting Day Form – 2022 (edit as you wish) which should be handed in on the day. \nThe day is strictly limited to an absolute maximum of 120 participants (TBC as ESSA is under new management) which I need to book and pay for prior to the event date so no refunds. This is also a very popular event and always oversubscribed so book early. Each Pack can enter 1 team although you may be able to enter more than 1 depending on take up – please let me know if you wish to enter another team on initial booking.
